Tiu Kelep Waterfall, North Lombok
Tiu Kelep Waterfall, North Lombok is one of the famous waterfalls in Lombok Island. Located in Senaru village, under the foot of mount Rinjani, this waterfall is a worthwhile destination to visit. The waterfall is surrounded by the tropical forest and birds’ sounds are sometimes heard on the way.
The waterfall is approximately 1 hour from Senaru Village. Senaru village is the gateway for Rinjani mountain trekking. Some accommodations are available here. The village is more like a transit before you do the Rinjani trekking.
When you visit this waterfall, make sure that you are good physically. The road is rather steep and slightly uphill in some parts. Otherwise, the local Guide will help to make sure it is safe. Always make sure that you go with the local experience Guide.
There you will also find the other waterfall just before you get to Tiu Kelep, which calls Sendang Gile Waterfall. This waterfall is also worth visiting, most of the visitors will drop in after they visit Tiu Kelep.
Getting to Tiu Kelep Waterfall
The first thing you to do before getting to Tiu Kelep Waterfall is you need to get to Senaru. If you stay in Senggigi or Mataram, you will need approximately 3 ½ hours to drive to Senaru. While if you stay in Kuta Lombok, you need approximately 3 1/2 hours. And if you stay on the Gili Islands, you will need 2 hours to get to Senaru.
Here is the best way to get there:
- Join the Lombok waterfall day tour package. Plan the trip in advance for a better arrangement. Otherwise, it is always depending on your travel style, you may book when you get to Lombok as well.
- Book Rinjani trekking tour, they offer free visiting of the waterfall in the afternoon as you arrive at Senaru village.
- Rent a motorbike or private car. Our car rental includes the driver, so this is a much better arrangement.
